If you own more than one luxury watch, you need proper storage. The two most popular options: the classic watch roll and the watch box (what we call a ZIP Case). Both protect your watches – but they are designed for different situations. Here's an honest comparison.
The Watch Roll: Compact, elegant, perfect for travel
The watch roll is the format that has become the standard among watch collectors in recent years. The idea is simple: three padded cushions side-by-side, rolled into soft leather. Compact, lightweight, fits in any travel bag.
The most obvious advantage is its size. A roll for three watches is barely larger than a beverage can and weighs next to nothing. For travel – whether a weekend trip or a business trip – there is no more practical solution. In addition, the roll shape has a practical side effect: due to its roundness, the watches lie slightly tilted in the cushions, which prevents them from bumping into each other.
However, capacity is limited. Three watches fit inside – but no more. And for watches with a case diameter over 44mm, it often gets tight. Furthermore, the roll offers less rigid protection than a box.
The Watch Box (ZIP Case): More space, more protection
A ZIP Case is essentially a flat, zippered leather box. Our ZIP Cases have six individual compartments, each with its own cushion and suede padding. The watches lie next to each other instead of on top of each other.
